This role is responsible for programming and operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and a variety of other gages and test equipment used for performing layouts and other tests, as required to support current and launch programs.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all layouts and testing as required.
- Issue layout and test reports to requester upon completion.
- Maintain layout and test records.
- Provide technical assistant in analysis and problem-solving of dimensional issues.
- Perform gage studies, maintain gage management software and keep all certifications, calibrations of lab equipment and gages up-to-date, per plant and customer requirements.
- Perform Lab Supervisor function, if approved by Management.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work environment, maintain Lab (5S discipline), assure gages received from other plants are in designated work area.
- Improve efficiency in layout performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 Years of CMM Experience within the automotive industry.
- Capable of operating and programming CMM with complete understanding of the software utilized.
- Sound basic knowledge of the principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to produce clear, legible layout reports.
- Working knowledge of basic metrology principles.
- Basic Mechanical Blueprint reading.
