Job Summary
The University of Michigan, School of Nursing (UMSN), Office of Financial Transactions & Procurement is looking for a Research Administrator Intermediate to work closely with our faculty to provide post-award administration. The successful candidate should be a motivated team player with a positive attitude, attention to detail and a commitment to exceptional customer service and have three (3) to five (5) years post award research administration experience and/or related accounting experience.
Responsibilities*
- Review, understand and articulate to project teams the Notice of Grant Award terms and conditions upon receipt of an award.
- Monitor budgets and reconcile project grants, gifts and internal research funding, providing monthly reports to an assigned set of faculty and researchers in the UMSN.
- Track and prepare effort change forms for effort placed on research funding and NIH cap adjustment sheets.
- Prepare and process administrative tasks to include no-cost extensions, establishment of subproject grants, budget reallocations.
- Interpret regulations and guidelines of various program funding with broad guidelines for spending. Review and approve spending requests accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with sponsor terms, University policies and procedures, and federal regulations.
- Maintain a portfolio of research project grants and contracts.
- Assist faculty in the preparation of annual and final progress reports.
- Work with the sponsored programs office to review and process financial status reports (close outs) and UG (uniformed guidance) reports.
- Collaborate with team members and provide cross coverage for absences or overloads.

Required Qualifications*
- A Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant and progressive grant/sponsored and non-sponsored project accounting/project management work experience.
- Experience with budget forecasting.
- Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely for various mediums, virtually and in person.
- Demonstrated experience at the advanced level in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and especially Excel.

Shift/Hours/Days: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; may include some occasional weekend and/or evening hours. This position is hybrid. The candidate will be expected to be in the office a minimum of 2 days/week and maintain flexibility for possible additional days onsite.
