Job Summary

Anticipated term of appointment: Winter 2025 mini-course (Jan. 1- April 30, 2025)
Anticipated Effort: 22.22%

The Organizational Studies program is seeking an individual to offer a course on people analytics in organizations. This course will explore key considerations and ethics of working with people data, provide fundamental data analytics skills to be able to manipulate and gather insights, and give students an opportunity to showcase how impactful people data can be through storytelling. Some of the key data questions that all organizations grapple with related to people include hiring, organizational structure and health, donor and nonprofit impact, and how Census data informs policy decisions at all levels of government. The class will include a combination of case study discussion and practical skill development in analytics tools.

This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the University of Michigan and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

Responsibilities*

The lecturer will teach an upper-level special topics course as a 2-credit course during Winter term 2025. 


In addition to teaching and grading responsibilities, the instructor will be required to hold office hours for students, and provide appropriate syllabus and course materials electronically. 

Required Qualifications*

Graduate degree in organizational studies or a closely related field, or equivalent work experience

Desired Qualifications*

The candidate must possess a degree in Organizational Studies/Behavior and have basic knowledge of organizational theory and experience in teaching/training.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
