The Opportunity

This is a 12-week internship with start dates beginning in May through August 2025, depending on your availability. Nutanix offers both remote and hybrid internships where you would work from the San Jose, CA, office 2-3 days/week. Submit your application by October 4, 2024.

About the Team

We are a small dynamic team within Nutanix working on a Database-as-a-service (DBaaS) product. Nutanix Database Service (NDB) enables managing and operating databases at scale using a unified UI and REST API interface for popular open source and enterprise Database Engines. It enables standardization across an organization's database estate while introducing efficiency, agility, scalability, and cost savings for Day 1 to Day N operations of Databases (provisioning, high availability, patching, scaling, upgrades, backup/restore and efficient database copies). Now, we are entering the next stage of NDB evolution, with expansion to a full multi-cloud and Hybrid offering that supports multiple Database Engines.

Your Role

Within the NDB team, you'll will get an opportunity to work on challenging problems like Management of Highly available Databases, DR Capabilities including automatic failovers, Workflow Orchestration, API Standardization, recommendation systems, autonomous databases, etc. If the journey from idea to product and joining a small team to make big contributions using modern technology and shaping the future product roadmap excites you, then you will be a good fit for this team.

What You Will Bring

• You are pursuing a Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related field.
• You have taken one or more courses in the areas of Operating/Distributed/Database Systems, Parallel Programming/Computing, or the Fundamentals of Computer Architecture.
• You are proficient in one or more of the following backend programming languages: C, C++, Python, Java, and Golang.
• Exposure to or projects related to one or more of the following systems: Cloud Infrastructure, Database Systems, File Systems, Object Storage Systems, Distributed Storage, or Open Source Frameworks

Each meeting will offer you an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the team you'll potentially work with.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 30 and USD $ 49 per hour.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
