The New York Life Insurance Company, a Fortune 100 company with corporate headquarters in NYC and locations across the U.S., is seeking a Head of Corporate Security. This critical role is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the physical safety and security of all company worksite locations across the United States, as well as executive protection and security support and oversight for large-scale company events. This role is critical in developing, implementing, and maintaining security policies, procedures, and programs and utilizing technologies to safeguard employees, agents, contractors, visitors, and assets while staying abreast of and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations. The position will lead a team of security professionals and manage vendor relationships, interact with law enforcement and governmental agencies, and partner with colleagues across the enterprise to protect the company's operations and workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the company's corporate security strategy, including developing, implementing, and maintaining fire/life safety policies, plans and procedures in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Lead and develop a team of ~70 (fulltime and contract) security professionals, including onsite uniformed proprietary staff, contract guard services,executive protection staff, and regional security management.
- Design and implement Executive Protection programs for senior leaders, including security planning for Board meetings, Senior Executive Offsite meetings, conferences, and corporate events.
- Conduct regular security assessments at all worksite locations, identifying potential vulnerabilities and developing preventive measures.
- Maintain formal liaisons with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, and collaborate with external law enforcement and emergency services to ensure preparedness for security incidents or emergencies.
- Continuously monitor security risks and update safety protocols accordingly.
- Lead the development and execution of emergency response plans and crisis management strategies for security incidents, such as fire, active shooter situations, or natural disasters.
- Provide clarity and consistency for daily and emergency operational programs and conduct regular security exercises to ensure preparedness.
- Act as the primary point of contact during security incidents, coordinating efforts with internal teams, law enforcement, and other external agencies, ensuring timely communication and escalation
- Oversee the use and maintenance of security technology, including access control systems, surveillance equipment, and security alarms across all locations, and recommend new technologies and upgrades that enhance capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, security management, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in law enforcement, corporate security, executive protection, or related fields, in a leadership role.
- Extensive experience managing security operations across multiple locations.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to corporate security.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to manage internal staff and contract guard teams and external vendors.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
- Valid Driver's License (Required)
- Possess a valid NYC or NYS pistol carry permit
- Computer proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- High degree of integrity and accountability.
- Strong judgment and the ability to remain calm during emergency situations, take control, and effectively communicate to senior executives with clarity and professionalism, even in trying circumstances.
- Adaptability to changing business priorities and environments.
- Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, executives, external partners, and law enforcement agencies.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
Location and Travel
This role will require 5 days in-person at the NYC office, and travel between offices and for company events as required to meet business needs.
Pay Transparency
Salary Range:$137,500-$237,500

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
