Summary
The R&D Scientist II role is a professional level position that is responsible for performing routine to moderately complex analytical and/or engineering functions on assigned projects of a general nature and limited scope by applying standard mathematical, scientific, and/or engineering technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares evaluation reports and analyzes discrepancies to execute solutions by partnering with technical experts.
- Assists in the preparation of product or project definitions, or lab testing methods.
- Develops procedures to implement proper quality controls.
- Performs routine to moderately complex tests/experiments to analyze and correct problems.
- Partners with internal and external stakeholders to assist in resolving routine to moderately complex design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
- Collaborate with senior technical experts to develop and document improvements/innovations.
- Evaluates opportunities for defect prevention based on standard or accepted solutions.
You Must Have
- 2 or more years of relevant experience in analytical, scientific, or related technical activities
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Physics or equivalent
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
- United States Citizenship
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
- Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
We Value
- Experience in running liquid chromatography instruments such as GPC, GPC-MALS, HPLC, LCMS, or IC.
- Experience working in a closely regulated analytical lab. Requires strict following of requirements and detailed review of laboratory test methods.
- Experience testing and analyzing various organic chemicals for purity, and organic compounds for material characterization purposes.
- Demonstrate an ability to communicate technical results to non-technical individuals.
- Demonstrate an ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team to solve technical problems.
