Job Summary

The WPA Business Partner is responsible for using data, analytics, and a strong understanding of the business and HR functions to provide human capital insights to internal clients. This individual translates business and talent challenges into analytic problems and uses a variety of methods to create fact-based recommendations to influence solutions and drive actions. Insights are delivered through various methods and intuitive visualizations (data files, reports, graphs, scorecards, etc.) to influence positive change with client groups.

Job Description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Apply specialized depth and/or breadth of data analytics knowledge as a recognized expert in the HR organization. May lead functional teams or projects.

Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.

Interpret internal or external issues and recommend solutions/best practices.

Solve for complex problems; take a broad perspective to identify solutions.

Collaborate with clients and HR Business Partners to translate complex problems into analyses of internal and external workforce data and trends, leading to the identification of recommended solutions.

Build and execute analytic and/or statistical methodologies for evaluating talent throughout the employee lifecycle and business problems by performing data analysis using basic statistical methods.

Identify data elements needed for analysis and leverage technical knowledge to structure and transform data for evaluation.

Analyze structured and unstructured data from a number of sources to identify key drivers of performance. Review results, identify variances to performance norms, analyze causes and formulate actionable recommendations to business and HR leaders.

Develop analytics stories and visual presentations to ensure data is conveyed in meaningful and interpretive formats for all audience levels. Identify actionable insights and recommendations to independently influence direction by effectively communicating results across functional groups.

Consult with frontline, divisional and departmental leaders to influence organizational change through fact based insights and results.

Use data, technology, business knowledge and statistics to build automation for reporting functionality, operational improvements and to streamline quality controls.

Examine and provide critical evaluation of data methodologies to ensure data strategies is aligned with the Workforce Planning & Analytics Foundational Systems and HRIS teams, creating a feedback loop to people data experts.

Manage and independently lead various Workforce Planning & Analytics projects including design, build, implementation, and execution and maintenance phases.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in human resources, training and development, organization development or a related field.

Work Experience

At least 7 years overall experience with data analysis, cleansing, visualization and management tools.

Experience applying basic to intermediate level statistical analysis included descriptive (measures of central tendency, distribution) and correlative (bivariate).

Demonstrated experience with relational databases and data warehouses (MS Access, SQL Server, Hadoop).

Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Excel (vlookup, SumIf, conditional formatting, pivot tables).

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge of reporting systems such as SQL, Business Intelligence / centralized reporting systems, and data visualization tools such as Tableau.

HRIS systems experience with Oracle based products as well as Workday (preferred).

Demonstrated ability to translate data into insights and build basic to intermediate statistical models. Intermediate level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions.

Intermediate project management skills with proven experience managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Ability to communicate complex analytic concepts and outputs to non-experts in both a written and verbal manner.

Requires effective and appropriate influencing skills with mid to senior level management/partners, combining high-level human capital knowledge with deep organizational understanding.

Experience working across a matrix organization; highly adaptable and agile to manage and influence complexity and evolving priorities.

Requires effective collaboration across various teams, being self-sufficient and able to manage their own work and the work of others.

Demonstrated ability to network externally and stay abreast of industry trends and technology advancements within HR Analytics.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

Advanced science degree in psychology economics, statistics, computer science, mathematics or related quantitative field.

Certification / Licensure

Certified HR Analytics and Metrics Professional.

Work Experience

Advanced statistical analysis experience preferred (multivariate, regression, natural language processing, CHAID, Cluster)
