Site Communications Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY
The Site Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing all Southern Nuclear site communications strategies to support business success.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or equivalent. 5+ years’ experience strongly desired in communications planning, writing and execution.
- Proven experience developing, implementing and managing strategic employee communication plans.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Ability to translate technical information for a wide range of audiences. Must be thoroughly skilled in AP style writing (preferred) and other diverse writing styles including online stories/web content, speeches, op-eds, presentations, creative messaging, video scripts, executive correspondence and employee memos.
- Broad understanding and baseline experience using communications technology and platforms in Adobe Creative Suite. Ability to own site photography, graphics layout, video production (filming/editing), and website.
- Strong computer skills with good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

- Utility communications and issue management experience a plus.
- Must be able to work flexible work schedule to respond to emergencies and storm.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as recognized expert in communications for the site and function as a member of the site leadership team.
- Provide excellent communications consultation support in order to competently recommend best means to communicate targeted messages to specific audiences. This includes, but is not limited to, the development and execution of creative campaigns that include: employee and executive messages, videos, web articles, employee events, email bulletins, PowerPoint presentations, and more.
- Provide feedback and communication coaching to leaders to improve employee communication.
- Manage information flow between site and fleet. Ensure consistency of message.
- Ensure communication style, approach and messages are consistent with Southern Nuclear’s and Southern Company’s standards and brand.
- Manage company resources, including site spending for Communications needs.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Hybrid with flexibility but requires regular on-site presence.
