Full Job Description

Summary

KCNSC is looking for an Engineer or Scientist with experience applying and/or developing physics-based simulation tools to answer challenging manufacturing and production-related questions. Core projects include solid mechanics, heat transfer, CFD, and structural dynamics. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic team of simulation engineers dedicated to supporting the mission of KCNSC. The position requires a small amount of travel and can be computer intensive work. Candidates with greater experience are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate manufacturing and design processes using simulation technologies with a focus on FEA/FEM and CFD
  • Develop / improve techniques for analyzing manufacturing processes
  • Aid in future development of software/hardware for simulation support
  • Proven excellence in effective communication, interactive and presentation skills with all levels at multiple sites
  • Ability to provide technical and programmatic guidance, project management, consultative services, data analysis, data management, and innovative solutions
  • Interface with both internal KCNSC customers and Design Agency partners
  • Must be able to work in cross functional team
  • May perform other duties as required.
  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established ES&H requirements to ensure the protection of associates, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to ""stop"" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every associate has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.

** THIS IS A HYBRID ROLE**

You Must Have

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or bachelors of science degree in Physics from and accredited program.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.

We Value

  • Experience with ASC simulation software (SIERRA, ALE3D, etc.)

  • Experience with Abaqus, Ansys, Fluent, StarCCM+

  • End-User experience with UNIX/LINUX operating systems

  • Expertise in nonlinear behavior of materials (plasticity, viscoelasticity/plasticity, hyperelasticity)

  • Experience in developing and applying a wide range of verification and validation tools, sensitivity analysis, and uncertainty quantification

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science , or Computer Science
