About the TeamThe Nutanix Database Service (NDB) team is a small yet dynamic group of individuals spread across various locations globally. Their collaborative team culture emphasizes open exploration of ideas and close collaboration with product management and the UX team to deliver high-quality features in a fast-paced environment. The team's focus lies in creating scalable, modular, and extensible components for NDB.You will report to the VP of Engineering, who provides strong leadership and guidance for the team. This role is hybrid, based in our San Jose headquarters, where you will be expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week. This setup allows for a balance of in-person collaboration and remote work flexibility, ensuring team connectivity and productivity. Your Role

Lead technical direction for major product areas of the Nutanix Database Service (NDB).
Drive the design for scalable, modular, and extensible components and define future technical vision for the product.
Develop a deep understanding of customer use cases and design innovative solutions for customer requirements.
Work closely with tech leads, engineers, and product management to deliver high-quality features in a fast-paced environment.
Work closely with the UX team to provide customers a simple and delightful experience.
Collaborate with other product architects at Nutanix and ensure alignment with the overall Nutanix vision.
Write whitepapers and blogs, file patents, and represent Nutanix in external seminars.
Coach/Mentor Staff Engineers in the team to enable them to grow to the next level.

What You Will Bring

Experience working with and building on hybrid multi-cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
Experience working with databases is a plus (Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB).
Experience in one or more of the following languages: Java, Go, Python
Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes.
Experience developing storage, networking, and virtualization products.
A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required. Advanced degree in Computer Science preferred.
Experience of 15+ years developing highly scalable and available software.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 213,600 and USD $ 427,198 per year.However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
