Full Job Description

The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking a Senior Specialist, Rural Health. This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote), and can be based in either Washington, D.C. or Chicago.

Starting base salary = $76,000- $95,000- $114,000 (commensurate with related experience). The AHA is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.

The Senior Specialist, Rural Health is responsible for executing the operations for the rural health portfolio. This role creates an annual work plan and schedule for rural health member touchpoints and ensures all events are executed seamlessly and actively participates in the execution of the work plan. The Senior Specialist takes ownership of projects emerging from the  rural health member engagements and will act as a primary contact for a portfolio of rural members. The role also develops reports that illustrate key rural characteristics to share within the AHA. This role also supports Field Engagement in accessing member intelligence and optimizing AHA's capabilities to catalog and distribute intelligence.

  • Creates annual work plan for sequencing and positioning the anticipated touchpoints for the rural health segment based on AHA flagship Rural Health Leadership Conference, rural segment newsletter, online community, and other touchpoint strategies.
  • Manages the planning of the Rural Health Services Committee with leadership of vice president. Conducts, member communications and production of onsite materials and collaborates with Meetings and Travel and other areas of the AHA for optimal implementation of the committee meeting.
  • Synthesizes rural health member group discussions into meeting summaries for actionable use in public policy, advocacy and engagement strategy.
  • Collaborates with internal colleagues and external partners and vendors to ensure successful development, implementation and execution to ensure projects and related assignments emerging from the members’ discussions meet deadlines and achieve deliverables. Develops and oversees work plans and coordinates internal schedules, particularly with the rural health services team.
  • Performs research on rural health and integrating information in account management documents/systems.
  • Executes member portfolio engagement and tracks segment account engagement goals linked to the work plan to achieve better overall operational efficiencies for the internal rural health services team.
  • Develops and implements medium-sized to complex project plans for the rural health services team, such as the draft day process for the rural health services committee, the rural leadership award preparation, and further advancing our data governance capabilities within the association management system NetForum and evolution to Salesforce.
  • Organizes and maintains related SharePoint site and related internal communication tools. Recommends updates and enhancements for process improvements to achieve better overall operational efficiencies.
