Scout is a SaaS web platform providing a B2B recruitment marketplace for employers and search firms. As a Senior Software Engineer you will join a collaborative team working to enhance and innovate our web service to expand to new customers and further improve efficiencies. Scout has a well established engineering department that includes teams dedicated to product research & design, technical infrastructure, machine learning, software development, customer support and quality assurance.We are seeking individuals who are passionate about providing a platform to enable a fast-paced environment and have a high level of ownership and responsibility for the success of the team. Duties/Responsibilities/Primary Function:
• Develop a stable and efficient platform to support rapid development, growth
• Maintain and enhance our production SaaS environment including Infrastructure As Code
• Collaborate with developers on cross-team initiatives
• Assist with infrastructure support, security, monitoring, and incident response
• Write and review technical designs
• Take initiative to identify and champion improvements to the infrastructure
• Guide and mentor junior engineers
• Handle interruptions well and strive to assist others
• Keep up to date with the field
• Participate in an on-call rotation
Required Skills/Abilities/Profile:
• Strong working knowledge of AWS services including Cloudformation, Lambda functions, EC2 Autoscaling, IAM, VPC management, Cloudwatch, and Cloudtrail
• Strong working knowledge of Kubernetes. Experience with EKS is a plus
• Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
• Experience using, building, and supporting continuous integration systems, especially Jenkins
• Software development / substantial scripting experience including following an SDLC (Python preferred)
• Use of monitoring solutions including logs, metrics, synthetic transactions, and site performance as well as conducting infrastructure capacity and load tests
• Experience treating infrastructure as code, working in an agile environment, and using revision versioning systems (git)
• Prior experience in a senior technical role producing high quality software and services by leading code reviews, advocating for technical standards, and proposing improvements to the overall SDLC
• Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
• Excellent design and organizational skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience working with cross-functional teams
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment requiring minimal direction/oversight
• Continual improvement and self-learning
Education and Experience:
• 7+ years of professional experience in DevOps and / or Systems Engineering
• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field is a plus
