Full Job Description
This role is based on-site in our Charlotte, NC office with 2 days per week work-from-home flexibility.

We're in need of a full-time Sales Specialist to provide general sales and analytical support to Account Managers across multiple customer channels. This role is integral to our success and provides plenty of potential for individual and professional growth. You'll attend many of the same meetings as Account Managers and other internal teams, so your visibility and opportunity will extend throughout the organization.

The candidate who best fits this role is a curious quick learner and a great multi-tasker with strong attention to detail and excellent follow-up. Although this role is primarily executional and analytical in nature, the right candidate will have an appetite for deeper involvement and contribution within the business to potentially include first-pass analysis of sales and inventory, involvement in the planogramming and replenishment processes, monitoring trends vs. forecast on key items, and potentially some direct contact with accounts after learning the business.


General Description:

Although the Sales Specialist will report directly to a National Account Manager of one sales channel, they will also support two other account managers in the Specialty and Canadian sales channels, working alongside them in a variety of general and analytical support activities. This person in this role will work with MS Excel/customer portals/planogram software, communicating with other internal teams, on the phone or over email with customers and agents, in retail stores to confirm our or our competitors' set-up, and sometimes working in our warehouse to get samples or prepare for trade shows. No two days will be the same! Ultimately, you will contribute to creating and maintaining mutually beneficial customer relationships and ensuring smooth sales team operations.


Detailed Description:
  • Provide analytical support related to sales and inventory for multiple sales channels (shipments, inventory availability, trends vs. forecast for key items, etc.), effectively using Microsoft Excel and other resources to create accurate and insightful reports that guide the business
  • Initially, basic execution in the creation and optimization of planograms and timely ordering/sending of product samples and displays, evolving to deeper involvement in the planograming and replenishment processes
  • Update reports or notes at regular sales meetings
  • Create item setups and master the use of customer web portals
  • Work daily face-to-face with other teams, such as Operations, Customer Service, and Marketing in the execution of your duties
  • Work on special projects or teams in various capacities in support of multiple business channels, both eCommerce and brick & mortar
  • Assist with planning and execution of trade shows; everything from event planning to packing crates, then running the show with full set-up/tear-down activities
  • Interact with customers by phone and email when needed to provide excellent service and quick turnarounds
  • Link directly to the Marketing department to create sell sheets and sales samples, brainstorm campaigns, and design/execute retail in-store activities
  • Up to 15% travel - local trade runs, out-of-state trade shows, or customer visits
Work experience and other requirements:
  • Strong commercial acumen and initiative are important, with previous experience in a sales environment required (inside and/or outside sales)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v look-ups, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to the appropriate level of detail
  • Self-starter/quick learner, but knows when to ask questions
  • Mental agility and resilience to adapt to multiple and changing tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Plays well with others (good interpersonal skills), but can also work independently
  • Excellent English communication skills, oral and written
  • Office environment and "in the field" work will sometimes require long hours on your feet, bending, lifting, reaching, crouching, or working in non-climate-controlled environments
  • Domestic travel required to meet customer needs - tradeshows, vendor or store visits, etc. This can mean early starts and late evenings
