ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs residential energy surveys by inspecting the envelope of the building, assessing the unit, including windows, doors, attic insulation, ventilation duct work, inspecting heating and cooling systems, and determining efficiency ratings.
Provides information to homeowners pertaining to an energy survey, including conservation measures.
Makes recommendations to assist with making energy efficiency or conservation improvements and meeting energy code requirements.
Evaluates energy efficiency improvements for cost effectiveness. Performs and provides computerized evaluations.
Presents to community groups on utility related services and provides technical instruction.
Performs solar site evaluations.
Attends work on continuous and regular basis.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Conducts cost effectiveness evaluations and specifications required for installation of energy conservation measures.
Handles customer requests and inquiries and refers to appropriate party if unable to assist.
May act in absence of supervisor.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Below are the required education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in science, math, engineering, or related field; and two (2) years experience in utility work and public relations that include energy management or engineering disciplines related to energy and/or water;
or an Associate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in science, math, engineering, or related field; and four (4) years experience in utility work and public relations that include energy management or engineering disciplines related to energy and/or water;
or a high school degree or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma; and six (6) years experience in utility work and public relations that include energy management or engineering disciplines related to energy and/or water.
CERTIFICATIONS OR LICENSES
Licenses
Valid driver license required upon appointment. Valid Florida Driver License required within 30 days of start date and at all time while employed in this classification.
Certifications
Valid State of Florida Residential Energy Auditing Certification, Class 1 State of Florida Energy Rater’s Certification, National Energy Rater Certification, or Certified Energy Manager’s Certification is required within six (6) months of start date.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of general residential building structure functions and operations.
Thorough knowledge of lighting, heating and air conditioning systems and related equipment.
Thorough knowledge of office and administrative practices and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of energy efficiency practices and procedures.
Working knowledge of computers and relevant software.
Knowledge of federal state and local regulations pertaining to rate structures, energy conservation methods, and building codes.
Knowledge of GRU residential rates, services, and policies and procedures.
Skill in performing energy surveys of residential structures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.
Ability to work effectively with co-workers and the general public.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess certain physical abilities and be able to withstand work related environmental conditions.
