Job Summary
The Behavioral Sciences Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician who will play a crucial role in supporting behavioral-related transportation research projects at UMTRI.

The University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) is recognized internationally for our multidisciplinary research focusing on transportation safety and mobility (http://umtri.umich.edu). Established in 1965, we maintain the highest standards of excellence as we conduct research that improves peoples' lives through access to safe, equitable and efficient mobility. UMTRI is a non-degree-granting unit within the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan that includes 20 faculty members, 35 research staff, and nearly over 300 students each year engaged in research and other experiential learning opportunities.
The Behavioral Sciences Group at UMTRI works to enhance safe mobility for all ages by deepening our understanding of the social and behavioral issues important to transportation. Using innovative research approaches, the group seeks to identify and examine the effects of social and behavioral factors on driving-related outcomes, including crashes, near crashes, and risky-driving behaviors, as well as potentially protective behaviors such as the use of advanced driver assistance system technologies. The group also works to develop and/or evaluate programs, policies, and practices intended to reduce high-risk behaviors and promote safe driving and use of other transportation options.

Responsibilities*
- Participant Management: Recruit, enroll, schedule, and track research participants. Handle participant payments efficiently.
- Data Collection: Work with research participants to collect data according to established research protocols.
- Data Management: Manage subject and objective data, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Perform summary analyses of collected data.
- Literature Review Support: Gather and organize academic articles for literature reviews.
Required Qualifications*
Senior Level Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Behavioral Science or related discipline
- Experience: 2+ years of relevant research work experience in psychology, behavioral science, or related disciplines.
- Advanced experience with Windows PC and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Strong initiative and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Intermediate Level Requirements
- Education: Associate's degree in Psychology, Behavioral Science or related discipline or HS diploma with equivalent work experience.
- Experience: 1-2 years of relevant research work experience in psychology, behavioral science, or related disciplines.
- Intermediate experience with Windows PC and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Strong initiative and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Associate Level Requirements
- Education: Associate's degree or HS diploma with relevant equivalent work experience.
- Experience: Up to 1 year of research work experience.
- Basic experience with Windows PC and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Strong initiative and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience working in a research environment with human subjects.
Modes of Work
This position is classified as onsite. Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Additional Information
The salary range is $33,561 - $47696. Please note a higher salary may be offered based on the selected candidate's experience.
