Job Description

A Brief Overview

Assume responsibility for an on-going, innovative research project as a Postdoctoral Fellow at CHOP. Our postdoc experience will broaden your skillset, scientific background, and research capabilities.

About the Lab:

The Sabatino Laboratory at the Raymond G. Perelman Center for Cellular and Molecular Therapeutics and the Division of Hematology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is currently seeking a post-doctoral research fellow. The laboratory focuses on gene therapy and the inherited bleeding disorder, hemophilia. The interests of the laboratory include (1) the development of gene-based therapeutic approaches for treating hemophilia (2) the study of variants of coagulation factor VIII that have enhanced function (3) understanding the impact of expression of factor VIII in different cell types and (4) studies of the immune response to the factor VIII protein. Current gene therapy strategies in the laboratory include adeno-associated viral (AAV) vector gene addition strategies and genome editing approaches. In addition, the laboratory is studying various aspects of gene therapy to understand the biology of gene transfer and the fate of the AAV vector DNA after gene delivery.

A successful applicant will become part of a collaborative team within a rich scientific and training environment. Applicants should have skills in molecular biology, cell biology and animal studies and a strong motivation to learn new methods and research areas. The individual will be expected to conduct independent research and contribute to the overall goals of the laboratory. Postdocs are expected to participate in project planning, data analysis and presentation of results through seminars, scientific meetings, and manuscript preparation. The postdoctoral experience will provide mentorship to develop and refine skills that are important for professional development.
