What's the role?

The Regulatory Operations team within Trading & Supply is accountable for operationalizing and supporting optimization of the business activities built around the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) requirements consistent with the Groups Commercial Compliance Strategy.  This includes credit inventory management, proactive aggregation, organizing and reporting of relevant data to the federal and state government agencies. The team works closely with various trading teams (Gasoline, Distillates, Ethanol and Biodiesel), Supply, and Manufacturing.

The Regulatory Ops & Reporting team also works with various internal and external resources to ensure compliance with environmental regulations impacting our activities in the areas of imports, blending, distribution and exports of road-transportation fuels. Overall Trading & Supply profitability and reputation can be materially affected by non-performance or inaccuracy.

The duties of the successful candidate will include:

  • Own & manage the credit inventory position by for either RFS or LCFS programs.
  • Support Trade book exposure management
  • Analyze and advise trader of generator lengths/shorts
  • Mange credit generation and retirements within required timeframes
  • Calculate compliance obligations and communicate any actions required to balance credit positions
  • Provide support and information for annual attest
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports for Shell Trading,
  • Serve as the primary contact for third parties
  • Oversee RINS/LCFS Settlement Analyst & Back Office activities.
  • Implement any regulatory changes to the current ways of working as necessary
  • Manages compliance activities for 1-2 trading books or 1-2 credit types

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
  • University Degree required with 3 or more years of professional work experience
  • Experience in reporting of RINs and/or LCFS credit positions is preferred
  • Background in Financial Reporting & Analysis and/or Auditing will receive strong consideration
  • Effective written & oral communications skills; experience of engagement with leadership team level is desired
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills related to large data sets
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the following will be highly beneficial:
    • Compliances Control, Risk & Exposure Management
    • Supply Chain Scheduling & understanding value chain
    • Contractual agreements & Commercial decision making

The base salary range for this position is $101,000 - $151,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents. Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
