Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour

Responsibilities*
- Provide expert nursing care to Nephrology patients in the outpatient clinics.
- Provide telephone triage, patient teaching, direct patient care including injections, documentation with follow-up and coordination with ancillary services and related departments.
- Provide functional supervision to allied health staff.
- Assist with patient flow as necessary and appropriate.
- Work with licensed providers to develop and carry out clinical standards of care for various patient diagnoses.
- Participate as a professional member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Teach patients and families pertinent information regarding the patient condition and treatment plans.
- Coordinate infusion therapies.
- Assist in orientation of team members as appropriate, including observation and participation of patient care activities.
- Actively participate and support performance improvement activities related to self, clinic, department, and institutional goals and objectives.
- Take live patient calls associated with Nurse Answer line.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Required Qualifications*
- Current license to practice nursing in the State of Michigan (RN).
- Three (3) years in the past 5 years of recent experience as a registered nurse, caring for adult medicine patients with acute or chronic conditions in an inpatient or ambulatory care setting.
- Demonstrated Proficiency within the last 3 years with MiChart documentation of patient care in the electronic health record
- Experience providing patient/family education
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills as evidenced by interviews, evaluations, and references.

Desired Qualifications*
- BSN
- Minimum of 1 year (within the last 3 years) RN experience caring for the adult nephrology patient population.
- Experience in telehealth nursing.
- One (1) year, within the last two years, of electronic lab monitoring for patients on immunosuppressive medications.
Work Schedule
- 40 hours/week.
- Shift/Hours/Days: Day Shift; Mon-Fri, 8-hour shifts, some evenings and Saturdays may be required (nontraditional including further weekends/holidays commitment). Hours may be variable based on patient and volume needs, with flexibility required.
