SUMMARY: 

The Product Development Engineer in this position acts as a technical team leader for large-scale projects or as a team member with ownership for end-to-end delivery of difficult and/or complex technical workstreams within a project. They execute work that leads to new products, processes, or systems with technical differentiation and significant business contributions. 


This person has responsibility to design, plan, collect, analyze, and report on experimental studies and/or new product concepts/ideas. They show independent creativity and initiative for business and organizational contributions and are driving discussions and decisions on overall project objectives with managers and other functional leaders.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Focuses on planning, coordinating, and leading all activities on comprehensive and technically challenging projects/assignments
  • Fully develops multiple concepts related to satisfying a customer need, and supports all viable solutions to arrive at an optimal solution for customers and the corporation while partnering internally and externally to commercialize
  • Creates and presents reports summarizing technical analysis and business viability to peer and management audiences
  • Maintains primary technical communication responsibility, leads tactical discussion and effectively communicates with all levels of internal and external customers and staff 
  • Evaluates and recommends engineering or design solutions for product, process, system, or other technical challenges
  • Facilitates work with cross-functional peers having broader, less-defined initial objective and scope during project identification
  • Understands and can effectively discuss corporate identity, strategy, and business needs as applied to projects/assignments

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completed 4 year degree in Engineering or Physics based program
  • Experience as a design and/or project leader of a cross-functional engineering team
  • Strong aptitude in process improvement, problem solving, technical execution and project management
  • Experienced knowledge of lean, manufacturing, design, and quality systems
  • 5-10 years engineering or technical experience

NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2D and 3D CAD experience with AutoCAD, Inventor or equivalent CAD software
  • Experience delivering products from ideation through commercialization using a gated design review process
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, drawing, and quality standards
  • Demonstrated ability with dimensional engineering and tolerance/variation analysis
  • Experience designing and developing new parts using injection molding, extrusion, machining, or die cast processes
  • Effective technical presentation and communication skills

COMPENSATION: Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $99,216 - $153,784.

PROFIT SHARING: In 2024, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
