Responsibilities

This position is a hybrid position and candidates would be required to report to our Bloomington, IL location 1 day a week. Employees must reside in a location that is within a same day commute of the Bloomington, IL office.

State Farm is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our corporate team in Bloomington, Illinois to support our facilities across the organization. Must be willing to take and pass the PE exam within a specific time period.

  • Provides project management and consulting for mechanical, plumbing/HVAC, controls, and environmental compliance and affairs
  • Provides engineering design and commissioning for company facilities
  • Implements and maintains company engineering design standards
  • Interprets and/or prepares construction documents, drawings and facility plans
  • Produces mechanical engineering documents for company facilities
  • Manages and coordinates efforts of outside engineering design consultants
  • Functions within interdisciplinary teams
  • Inspects and evaluates facilities
  • Performs and prepares mechanical engineering, facility, and operational reviews and recommendations to Real Estate Agencies, Relationship Management contacts, and Leadership
  • Provides oversight of Service Delivery and property management vendors to verify facility maintenance procedures are reliable for business operations
  • Prepares mechanical engineering construction cost estimates and analysis
  • Provides support to business partners for the operation and maintenance of mechanical engineered systems

Qualifications

Looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer (HVAC, plumbing and fire protection). Work will include all owned and leased facilities, including our data center. Would prefer some one with a minimum of 5 plus years of experience with an Architectural/Engineering firm.

  • 5+ years experience as a mechanical engineer
  • Achieved Professional Engineer (PE) license or willing to take the PE exam during a certain time period
  • Seeking candidates with facilities related mechanical engineer experience
  • The candidate should be licensed at minimum in the State of Illinois (additional states added at a later date)
  • Inspection and operation of mechanical engineering (plumbing/HVAC/fire) systems may involve physically challenging and hazardous conditions
  • Physical mobility may be required to climb ladders and to perform other physical activities related to construction and building inspections
  • Overnight travel to company locations (domestic) and a varied work schedule may be required
  • Experience relating to mechanical/fire system planning and operations with emphasis on design, construction, and operation
  • May be required to work beyond normal business hours of Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:15PM CST, including varying shifts, nights, weekends and holidays, based on workload and as operations dictates
