Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Manager Engineering 3 for our Palm Beach Gardens, Florida location to support the Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) business unit.   The manager will be responsible for managing a staff of approximately 10 engineers.
The Northrop Grumman PS&C business unit is based in Elkton, Maryland and began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The Palm Beach Gardens location is the Air-breathing propulsion center of excellence specializing in the design, analysis and system integration of ramjets, scramjets and other advanced air-breathing propulsion systems.
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida is located a very short distance from the Atlantic Ocean.  You would be close to many top beaches, fishing, inland eco-tours, shopping, and restaurants.  Palm Beach Gardens also has many top golf choices and is home to The Professional Golfers Association of America and PGA National Resort.
Primary Job responsibilities are:
Manage a group of engineers that perform preliminary design of high speed air-breathing propulsion systems and solid propellant rocket motor propulsion systems in support of new/follow-on pursuits, current development programs, and production programs.  The manager will ensure that the technical plans and work products meet the program requirements, scope, and cost/schedule constraints.  In addition, he/she will actively manage their direct reports in areas such as safety, job expectations, career goals, mentoring/coaching, and Engineering Department accountabilities. Further, the manager will ensure the staff receives the appropriate training and skill development opportunities to be successful in their roles, and will provide feedback (performance appraisals) with respect to their individual performance levels. 
Job Responsibilities:

• Planning, prioritization, allocation, and management of resources to meet program staffing and department budget goals.
• Mentor and motivate to ensure a high performing engineering team.  This includes use of Development Plans, stretch assignments, 1:1 feedback, training, recognition, promotion/equity, and other tools to develop and reward our engineering talent.
• Establishing and promoting high standards for quality and safety. Maintain assigned Northrop Grumman engineering processes and drive technical excellence by ensuring team output meets technical standards.
• Support technology growth in innovation identification, roadmap development, and proposal support.
• Ensuring that Engineering, Program Management, and other functional departments are aligned in understanding program/proposal goals and the technical and programmatic approaches to achieve these goals.
• Applying sound engineering principles and ensuring compliance with all command media processes and standards in our technical solutions.
• Taking a leadership role in solving significant engineering issues. Working with lead/chief engineers, develop plans to resolve the issues, communicate the plan, ensure appropriate technical resources are applied, and advise Senior Management on progress.
• Represent and communicate Northrop Grumman technical capabilities and technologies to internal and external customers.
• Use appropriate metrics to monitor engineering performance and drive data-based decision making.
• Actively pursue improvement initiatives related to Engineering processes and procedures, including audit and training.
Success in this role will require sound scientific/technical judgment, innovative thinking and excellent interpersonal/management skills in order to plan, motivate and accomplish goals through your staff.
Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in proposal, design, development and test of high speed air-breathing propulsion systems
• Bachelor's degree in STEM with strong preference in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Technical background in high speed air-breathing propulsion system design and test
• Must be a self-starter and possess the skills necessary to lead and motivate others, achieving results in a timely manner
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present to internal and external customers and management
• Intermediate computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise-wide systems.
• Strong people, leadership, and project management skills
• Active Secret Clearance to which US citizenship is a requirement
Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Solid rocket motor propulsion system design and test
• General user knowledge of NX and TcUA
• Prior leadership experience, including managing others
Salary Range: $138,100 - $207,100
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
