Manager, Operation Technology – Operate and Maintain

The Operations Technology Manager - Operate and Maintain will play a pivotal role in evaluating and enhancing the capabilities of our delivered Operations Technology Assets and systems. They will focus on continuous improvement strategies and objectives, assess value capabilities, and devise strategies to retain highly skilled professionals within a competency framework tailored for the OT space. Their primary responsibilities include overseeing operations and maintenance for OT systems, managing Production/Security Cameras, and maintaining Data Historian systems. This role is essential for ensuring operational excellence and the integrity of our technological infrastructure.

What you’ll do:

  • Leverage talent assessments to identify OT talent gaps and skills needs

  • Develop technical trainings on OT competencies to upskill experts and create bench strength

  • Design and conduct SOP training in conjunction with Tech Services

  • Manage certifications

  • Drive best practice sharing

  • Manage disciplined application of SOP documentation

  • Progress data science, IoT and AI capability

  • AVEVA Pi Use and Usefulness and best practices.

  • Pi team management

  • Understand and oversee sustainment (go-live, hypercare) in concert with IT

  • Monitor post implementation of OT projects and lead continuous improvement efforts driving feedback to our innovation pipeline

  • Analyze OT data to identify inefficiencies and develop innovative solutions.

  • Identify Ops issues that could be solved with automation / machine learning (ex. simulation / digital twins, AI) and coordinate development support from IT

  • Scout for leading OT data science methodologies. Leverage subcontractor support

  • Establish audit capability and drive toward Enterprise IOC standard of “value capable”

  • Maximize use of subcontractors in Canada, US, Brazil, and low cost country options for additional audit support

  • This role will be responsible to communicate both internally with VP’s, General Manager’s and externally as required with regulators, community groups, industry associations and new business development partners

  • Frequency of travel: 30% - 40%

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Computer and information Science or Engineering.

  • 10+ years relevant experience is required.

  • In depth knowledge of mineral and chemical engineering, operations technologies, project management process & activities, and strong business case development skills.

  • Solid requirements elicitation, gathering, and documentation skills, at business, functional, and technical levels.

  • Ability to manage customer requirements and scope discussions; as well as ability to facilitate large groups.

  • Ability to translate metrics into business decisions of importance and priorities.

  • Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Demonstrated capability in BI reporting and Dashboard development.

Bonus points if you have the following:

  • Master’s degree.

  • Knowledge of integrated operations center design and implementation.

  • Experience with data historian systems.

  • Experience with physical security systems (Cameras/Access).

  • Knowledge of AVEVA PI and systems.
