Manager, Engineering - Geotech Capital Projects

As a Manager, Engineering you will work with a team of project engineers, technical services engineers, construction managers, and contractors to manage the Geotech Project portfolio of capital projects with an annual budget of $80 - $150 million across the North American Phosphate operations. You will ensure that Mosaic’s capital process management policies are adhered to in the execution of capital projects by your team. This includes collaboration with technical services, mining operations, mine planning, environmental, permitting, and procurement teams to ensure scope meets operational and regulatory needs; ensure appropriate design for cost and construction efficiency; procurement of engineering, equipment, materials, and construction contractor services; and ensure safe execution of projects on budget, schedule, and in compliance with quality specifications. You will ensure appropriate communication and collaboration takes place with site and technical services support teams for the most efficient management of Capital. You will oversee the Geotech capital project portfolio and the development of annual and 5-year plans. You will be a part of the Capital Projects Leadership Team and expected to participate and/or take leadership of new initiatives to standardize and improve on capital management across the business.

What will you do?

  • Ensure that all EHS systems and processes are in place and appropriate to manage contractor and employee workforce. Ensure that each project has the right level of oversight and consistent application. You will be responsible for the safety performance of teams executing projects in their portfolio, including company employees and contractor personnel.
  • Ensure trained and engaged project management personnel are available and effectively manage Geotech projects, in accordance with company policies, (EHS, CPM, Capital Governance), contractor procurement strategies, regulatory requirements, capital project budgets, and project schedules.
  • Ensure effective communication with stakeholders through planning, scoping, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, and closure phases of capital projects executed by their team.
  • Manage the Geotech capital budget. Collaborate with stakeholders and management on development of annual and five year capital plans. Participate in and promote initiatives to improve on capital management.
  • Prepare capital project funding requests
  • Coach and develop team members to become effective and high performing project managers.

What do you need for this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required. Civil or Geotechnical Engineering degree, preferred
  • 10 years engineering or project management experience in mining, industrial construction, or civil construction. Large capital project execution experience.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a customer-centric attitude
  • Demonstrated experience driving procurement KPIs to deliver results
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and on teams.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing cost reduction, value improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Proficiency with MS Office products

Preferred certifications:

  • PE, PMP
