Mammography Technologist operates radiologic equipment to complete screening mammogram studies as directed by physicians. The Mammography Technologist obtains diagnostic imaging radiographs, utilizing appropriate radiation and general safety practices. In addition to obtaining radiograph (utilizing minimal exposure and appropriate positioning techniques), the technologist is responsible for patient communication and experience while in the diagnostic imaging department.
Essential Functions:
- Interacts with patients in a timely and professional manner. Introduces himself/herself, explains procedure and answers questions to make the patient feel more comfortable with their procedure.
- Performs all radiographic and mammographic examinations within equipment limits and according to established protocols.
- Minimizes radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques (ALARA), patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors and automatic exposure controls.
- Maintains diagnostic images log and responsible for sending provider images and filing image in patient’s chart.
- Processes and critiques all images for diagnostic quality and correctness.
- Performs Quality Assurance and Controls (QA) daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannually, and annually according to established QA program guidelines for all equipment.
- Maintains diagnostic images log and responsible for sending provider images and filing image in patient’s chart.
- Obtains previous diagnostic films/images and patient reports for comparison studies.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.

- Maintains all working environments including restocking rooms and keeping work areas clean at all times.
- Trains students within Mountain Park Health Center guidelines.

- Performs other duties as required.
Position Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (R)(M).
- Current certificate with ADHS (CRT, CMT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Completion of course in radiologic technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Registration in Radiography and Mammography is required.
- Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) certification is required.
- 3 years or more experience with 2D required.
- 3 year of Breast Imaging experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years or more Breast Imaging experience
- 2 years or more experience with 3D/Tomosynthesis
