Summary
This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Infrastructure and Operations. As an IT Specialist (CUSTSPT) (NETWORK), you will be providing 24-hour event management and operational support capability for the Bureau of the Fiscal Service.
Duties
As an IT Specialist (CUSTSPT) (NETWORK), you will:
- Provide troubleshooting support and work with Tier 2 and 3 technical staff to assist users of all organizations regarding the Fiscal Service WAN LAN and large-scale mainframe using automated reporting and monitoring systems.
- Assist administrators and engineers in the operation and troubleshooting of data center device, operating systems, applications and hardware. This is accomplished by performing tasks assigned by the systems administrators and engineers.
- Assist computer facility staff in the operation and troubleshooting of the data center lighting, power and environmental controls. This is accomplished by performing tasks as assigned by the systems facility staff.
- Monitor activities, performance and availability of resources including mainframe platforms, distributed systems and communication services in support of the Fiscal Service WAN LAN from an internal and external perspective using automated systems.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or . For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility at the GS-07 level in the Federal service or equivalent, which have equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes using IT guidelines to analyze and report issues and provide customer support for desktop, server and network operating systems.
Examples of such experience could include:
- Using and applying all aspects of established procedures to analyze, isolate and report network, operating systems, applications and hardware issues such as: server availability, software program errors, critical down interface or software program errors.
- Assisting computer facility staff in the operation and troubleshooting of environmental controls.
- Providing advice and assistance to customers; troubleshooting problems; and recording and handling critical IT enterprise service outages pertaining to customer's critical business functions.
- Responding to routine IT incidents and service requests by providing appropriate and prompt solutions. Assists in troubleshooting difficult or recurring issues in conjunction with team members and Fiscal Service Information and Security Services staff to identify variables and possible fixes.- Providing first-level contact and problem resolution for both Fiscal Service employees as well as Fiscal Service business partners on issues related to end user applications, operating systems, network connectivity, and other IT issues.

You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
1. Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, or
2. Two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree.
Education should be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
