The Costco IT Division is inviting students currently enrolled in an IT undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university to participate in a 12-week paid internship program starting in January 2025. Interns will work within specific areas in Costco’s Information Systems Division. Interns will attend presentations given by various members of Executive Management from IT and other areas of the Company. Interns will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Housing is not provided.

Costco’s Compliance, Maturity, and Enablement team resides within the wider Information Security organization. The team mission is to enable the business to make risk-based, data-driven decisions by making compliance requirements clear, digestible, measurable, and consumable. The intern will have to support our team’s analysts, engineers, and architects to ensure requirements are aligned to Costco policies and controls that meet or exceed the law, protect our members’ and employees’ data, and support our suppliers. The intern will be working within a Governance, Risk, and Compliance database, both to update data, but also coordinate across functions to ensure builds and configurations meet the needs of Costco’s Digital Services. In addition, the intern will work with Senior Leadership to disseminate findings and risks, as well as coordinate remediation activities.

NOTE: While participating in the IT Internship program, an individual will be classified as an hourly temporary employee for the duration of the program. During the program, the individual may be asked to undergo the normal interview process for a level 1 position. If the individual is offered a position, they will be converted to the employment status matching open job they were selected for. If they are not selected for a regular position, the internship position will be complete in a maximum of twelve weeks.

● Learns how to ensure database, controls, and documentation is aligned and up-to-date with regulatory requirements.

● Learns how to coordinate across GRC to establish management-level reporting to drive compliant activities and solutioning.

● Learns how to facilitate process creation in alignment with identified compliance controls.

REQUIRED

● Ability to work independently, as well as part of the team.

● Ability to conduct root cause analysis against identified controls gaps and aid in solutioning, process creation.

● Ability to examine issues both strategically and analytically.

● Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

● Possess good organizational, time, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, and stay well organized.

● Must be maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

● Must be students currently enrolled in an IT undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university.

Recommended

● Working knowledge of Information Security best practices, policies, standards, and baselines.

Pay Range: $20.50 - $30.90
