The Costco IT Division is inviting students currently enrolled in an IT undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university to participate in a 12-week paid internship program starting in January 2025. Interns will work within specific areas in Costco’s Information Systems Division. Interns will attend presentations given by various members of Executive Management from IT and other areas of the Company. Interns will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Housing is not provided.

The Central Engineering and Architecture team, composed of experienced enterprise architects and engineers, set the strategic and technical direction within our organization and deliver the tools and practices to enable best in class engineering. The architects establish top-level architecture strategies, provide clarity on the overall vision, and guide implementation roadmaps for various teams. They serve as principal advisors to peer directors, fostering strategic alignment between IT and business objectives. The engineers create and enable the tools and frameworks engineers across the organization.

Key responsibilities include ensuring that IT initiatives are closely aligned with the organization's business goals; providing valuable insights for strategic decision-making; and optimizing the IT infrastructure for cost efficiency and innovation. The team also plays a crucial role in risk reduction and compliance, protecting the organization from potential threats and ensuring business continuity.

By integrating new technologies and driving digital transformation, the Central Engineering and Architecture team enables the organization to respond quickly to market changes and stay competitive. They collaborate with solution delivery teams, business and solution architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the organization's IT systems support the overall business strategy, leading to more efficient and effective operations.

NOTE: While participating in the IT Internship program, an individual will be classified as an hourly temporary employee for the duration of the program. During the program, the individual may be asked to undergo the normal interview process for a level 1 position. If the individual is offered a position, they will be converted to the employment status matching open job they were selected for. If they are not selected for a regular position, the internship position will be complete in a maximum of twelve weeks.

REQUIRED

● Familiarity with concepts in enterprise architecture, such as business capability modeling, application portfolio management, and systems integration.

● Knowledge or interest in Azure DevOps/Service now/Jira or similar project management tools.

● Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

● Possess good organizational, time, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, and stay well organized.

● Must be maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

● Must be students currently enrolled in an IT undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university.

Recommended

● Basic conceptual understanding of EA terminology, such as Reference, Target architectures, and principles.

● Knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as Azure or GCP.

● Problem-solving abilities, particularly in identifying and mitigating potential security risks.

● Collaborated with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.

Pay Range: $20.50 - $30.90
