Process Safety Management Engineer
Where will you work: Riverview
As PSM Engineer you will lead the implementation of the process safety management and risk management plan. Working in partnership with Bartow site operations and EHS you will work to reduce overall risk profile of the facility by improving operational control effectiveness. Additionally, you will work across the site to establish and sustain effective PSM/RMP compliance, including facilitation of Process Safety Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Risk Analysis. You will thrive in this role if you are a highly analytical problem solver with a passion for keeping your coworkers and the environment safe.
What you’ll do?
- Implement and refine site-supporting policies, procedures, programs, KPIs, training, and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
- Develop and evaluate recommendations for process control and risk mitigation of highly hazardous chemicals.
- Provide routine updates to leadership on current state of management system elements and provide recommendations for improvement and sustainability.
- Serve as the site resource for all elements of PSM/RMP.
- Leverage change management and communication skills to maintain stakeholder alignment to 14 elements.
- Facilitate area leadership meetings to drive program improvements.
- Facilitate quarterly meetings with operations and EHS stakeholders, reporting on implementation tracking, program compliance and improvement opportunities.
- Train the site on pertinent elements of process safety and tracks the site compliance.
- Set deadlines and achievable targets for program improvement deliverables with a cross functional team.
- Work with BU competency teams on program design and sustainability.
- Participate in incident analysis and investigations and drives the completion of CAPA’s that are directly associated with systematic opportunities.
- Coordinate the completion of gap assessments, audits and site corrective actions with site element leads.
- Work with site management teams to develop corrective action plans that prioritize risk.
- Aid in preparation of EHS assessments and compliance audits.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, required. Chemical, Mechanical and Environmental Engineer, preferred.
- Engineer II
2 + years of engineering experience
- Engineer III
• 4+ years of engineering experience
- Engineer Sr
• 8+ years of engineering experience
- Prior EHS or Operations experience with strong knowledge of operational controls
- Operation, maintenance or EHS experience in PSM/RMP covered process area
- Project Management
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage numerous assignments simultaneously
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills involving issues of a difficult and sensitive nature
- Ability to foster cooperation and collaboration among different functional work groups through strong facilitation skills
- Demonstrated ability to actively listen and move conversations to constructive dialogue
Bonus Points if you have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering
- Process Hazard and Root Cause Analysis
- Maximo and PowerBi experience
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, OSHA 1910.119 and EPA RMP
