Northmarq is seeking a Cybersecurity Infrastructure Engineer to join the Information Technology department in the Minneapolis (Bloomington, MN) headquarters office. In this role, you will be responsible for the designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining robust security infrastructure to protect organizational assets from cyber threats. You will collaborate with the Infrastructure, Development, and Application teams to understand and transform complex security requirements into effective, scalable solutions, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our systems and data.
*This position is an in-office position, with an immediate start date.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the security infrastructure, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, DLP, IDR, SIEM systems, and endpoint protection.
- Plan, implement, upgrade, and monitor security controls to ensure compliance with enterprise and IT security policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Design, implement, and maintain security infrastructures to safeguard organizational assets from cyber threats.
- Monitor, analyze, and investigate security incidents, responding promptly to mitigate risks and recover from breaches.
- Partner with our Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider to enhance threat detection and response capabilities
- Develop and deploy advanced security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption technologies.
- Conduct regular security assessments, penetration tests, risk assessments, and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential weaknesses. Develop, review, and update security policies and procedures to ensure they align with industry standards and effectively address emerging threats.
- Perform and monitor vulnerability scanning to detect, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities
- Collaborate with Infrastructure & IT Teams to ensure seamless integration of security measures into existing systems.
- Stay updated on emerging threats and industry best practices to enhance security protocols.
- Execute general Infrastructure system administration tasks where needed to support the infrastructure team
- Work weekends/nights on occasion for maintenance or critical system failure.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology; or equivalent education and experience.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience mitigating cybersecurity threats and managing cybersecurity platforms and risks
- Proven experience in designing and implementing robust security solutions, conducting vulnerability assessments, and managing security incidents, with a deep understanding of threat modeling, and risk management, as well as a solid foundation in general IT infrastructure, including servers, databases, and Azure environments.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS, GDPR)
- Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., MS Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar, LogRhythm)
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, security architecture, and cryptography
- Scripting background with PowerShell/Python focusing on automation
- Experience with configuring and maintaining firewall and waf rules, preferably Cisco ASA/FTD, Cisco Umbrella, and Cloudflare.
- Technical experience in a medium to large-scale enterprise environment engineering, managing and supporting preferred technologies:
- EntraID, Azure Landing Zone, Active Directory, MFA, SSO, Microsoft 365, Certificate Authority, KnowBe4, Mimecast, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, Nessus.
- Must be disciplined, dynamic, and flexible to manage multiple projects and tasks, work effectively in a rapidly changing environment, and meet ongoing and overlapping deadlines.
- The desire to learn and advance to become a go-to technical resource and people leader.
- The ability to operate autonomously with little supervision to achieve desired goals.
