Job Description
BAE Systems is looking for an experienced, self-motivated, creative Chief Architect to build customer-focused solutions as part of a multi-disciplinary team in an agile, fast-paced environment. The qualified candidate will support the development and implementation of technical solutions for a wide range of hardware and software applications to solve contemporary U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force problems.

Responsibilities:
  • Define and communicate (in writing, briefing materials, and verbalizing) shared architectural visions for various product "release trains," from concept to capability delivery
  • Leverage Strategic Systems domain subject matter expertise and innovations to meet emerging Customer needs by shaping their strategic thinking, developing solutions to their Use Cases, and defining executable projects to meet their requirements
  • Participate in pursuit planning, product definition, high-level design and exploration of alternatives, and related activities to educate and shape our DoD Customers
  • Support a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline through appropriate development and design activities, as well as advocate for IRAD, tech maturation, and new business fund investments
  • Actively participate in Business Winning strategy development and implementation, working with Strategic Systems Business Unit and Air & Space Force Business Area Business Development, Capture, and Communication personnel to achieve overall business winning goals and strategies. It is expected this position will contribute to writing white papers, RFI responses, and proposals.
  • Support and leverage BAE Systems Strategic partnerships with a wide range of other technical capability providers (both inside and outside of BAE Systems, Inc.) to bring the most effective, efficient, and attractive solutions possible to current and future Strategic Systems customers
  • Collaborate between and across other Sector, Business Area, and parallel Business Unit Chief Architects, business winning, and engineering teams and individual SMEs
  • Identify, document, and manage cost, schedule, and performance risks associated with proposed solutions in coordination with business winning, program management, engineering, and leadership teams
  • Operate within and in accordance with the BAE Systems Core Values and Life Cycle Management (LCM) framework
  • 25% of overall time dedicated to business travel to customer locations in support of product demonstrations and other customer meetings


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field of study
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in developing and fielding technology applications aligned to Department of Defense strategic and/or space-based systems
  • Extensive experience working with customers, stakeholders, and suppliers to capture their requirements and Use Cases, establish high-level Solution Contexts, and then create and communicate solution concepts, models, and related documentation
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills across cross-functional teams, multi-disciplinary subject matter experts, and business leaders to understand and apply their various capabilities to Strategic Systems solutioning
  • Coordination with Program Management and key stakeholders on progress, budget, release strategy, and readiness
  • Ability to identify, assess, and work with traditional and non-traditional capability Suppliers to integrate their technologies into Solutions to meet customer requirements
  • Experience developing and deploying data analytics capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Active Top-Secret clearance
  • Experience successfully developing and deploying digital application capabilities in container-based development and orchestration services such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience developing and deploying data analytics capabilities that use Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning models (i.e., Large Language Models)
  • Experience developing and deploying scalable micro-services
  • Experience with delivery of services on AWS or an equivalent public cloud computing environment, or in hybrid cloud/on-premises infrastructures


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $115110 - $195660

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
