Certified Medical Assistant- Duke Primary CareOcc Summary

Independently plan and provide professional nursing car e for patientsinaccordance with physician orders and established policie s andprocedures.Provide nursing services to patients and families inacco rdance with thescope of the RN as defined by the North CarolinaBoard of Nursing.


Work Performed

Plan, provide, supervise an d document professional nursing careutilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physicianorders and established policies and p rocedures. Useprofessional nursingjudgment to individualize the plan of care based onassessment of thepatient's baseline needs and response to c are.Delegatetasks and supervise the activities of other licensed andunli censed careproviders.Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of n ursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a group of patient s or an entire unitas assigned.Monitor and initiate corrective action tomaintainthe environment ofcare including equipment and material resourc es.Participate in own professional development by maintaining requiredco mpetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriateassistance or educational offerings.Act as preceptor and support the development o f other staff and formallearners.Participate in the identification of cl inical oroperational performanceimprovement opportunities and in perform ance improvement activities.Perform other related duties incidental to t he workdescribed herein.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Level I -- Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation required. Level II -- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation required. Level III -- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation required. Level IV -- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation required.


Experience

Level I -- No experience required. Level II -- 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting. Level III -- 2 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting. Level IV -- 3 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting. Note: 1 year of experience will be provided for an Associate degree in Medical Assisting. General Ladder Statement: In addition to the education and experience noted, applicants must meet all requirements set forth in the Medical Assistant, Certified (CMA/RMA) Ladder Program document for Levels II, III, and IV.


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Level I -- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required. BLS required. Level II -- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required. BLS required.
