Michigan Dining comprises twenty-one on-campus cafes and markets, nine residential dining halls, and four catering kitchens. Position Summary:

The Point of Sale Administrator oversees critical information technology systems supporting dining services, focusing on the point-of-sale (POS) hardware and software. This includes managing the cloud-based POS solution and the mobile application used by dining locations across campus. You will ensure seamless integration and communication between technology platforms, ensuring that all systems work together to support Michigan Dining's operational needs. As the subject matter expert for the POS system, you will play a central part in maintaining system reliability, troubleshooting issues, and improving system functionality. You will coordinate system updates, user training, troubleshooting, and working to ensure that the POS infrastructure aligns with Michigan Dining's broader goals. Responsibilities*

POS System Management (80%):

  • Oversee the POS hardware and software operation, configuration, and maintenance, including the cloud-based solution and mobile app, to ensure efficient functionality across all dining locations.
  • Ensure POS systems and other dining-related technology systems, such as meal plan management, campus funds (Blue Bucks/Dining Dollars), and food production management.
  • Implement price changes, promotions, and discounts in the system, ensuring they are reflected across all sales channels.
  • Identify technical issues related to POS systems to IT technical staff. Provide expert-level support to dining locations and staff when needed.
  • Assess POS system performance and identify opportunities for optimization, ensuring it supports operational goals and improves the customer experience.
  • Implement and monitor anti-fraud measures, such as reviewing transaction logs for suspicious activity.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for dining staff on how to use the POS systems.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions within the POS system, ensuring secure access levels for staff.

Support and Leadership (20%):

  • Partner with Student Life Budget and Finance to address system requirements and ensure that financial reconciliation meets University standards.
  • Collaborate with Student Life Technology Solutions on all hardware troubleshooting to find solutions, minimizing downtime for locations.
  • Mentor student staff in handling daily POS tasks, helping them resolve any technical issues, and providing feedback on areas to grow.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share insights and ensure seamless integration and data consistency.
  • Provide support to others within the Systems support team for backup.
  • Exhibit a personal and professional commitment to diversity, with an understanding and respect for cultural, ethnic, and individual differences.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, business administration, and related field or relevant experience of 2-3 years with some certifications or classes in a technology-related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suites software or the equivalent Google applications
  • 1 year of experience training staff with varying levels of technical knowledge, using diverse training methods
  • 1 year of experience in customer service
  • At least 1+ years of experience working with point of sales systems, either in an administrative, technical support, or retail setting
  • 1 year of experience with financial reconciliation, sales reporting, or cash handling

    Additional Information

    Working Conditions:

    • You'll be considered a critical employee and will come to campus in the event of emergencies. You will work on campus, with some hybrid work as approved by their supervisor.

    This role may have reporting obligations under Title IX and Clery.
