Full Job Description
Northwest Kidney Centers is hiring a Benefit Administrator to join our People Team in Burien, WA. This position will be Hybrid and work 2-days onsite. FLSA/Shift: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Day Shift Mon-Fri. Exempt
Purpose:

Responsible for managing the organization's health and welfare benefits, programs that include retirement plans, leave policies, and health and wellness programs and associated policies and procedures while championing NKC's core values and service commitments. Provides leadership for the selection of benefits vendors and manages enrollment processes. Frequently monitors government regulations and market trends to ensure that employee benefits programs are legal and competitive. Supports employee and vendor escalations when problems arise.
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Knowledge of benefits, HR, and administration is required.
  • Minimum three to five (3-5) years' experience in benefit management.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience administering defined contribution plans.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides expertise related to benefits programs and best practices.
  • Leads organizational benefit design to ensure benefits programs meet staff needs are competitive and cost-effective, legally compliant, and effectively communicated.
  • Monitors federal, state, and local ordinance regulations related to benefits and keeps the HR leadership team up to date. Ensures benefits programs meet employee needs and comply with legal requirements.
  • Analyzes employee satisfaction related to benefits programs and advises the organization on competitive benefits programs.
  • Manages vendor relationships and third-party contracts related to benefits programs.
  • Provides front-line delivery related to employee benefits access and provides leadership, coaching, and performance management to team members responsible for front-line delivery of leave management programs.
  • Processes benefit enrollments quickly and accurately. Consult with employees about eligibility and other pertinent issues.
  • Resolves employee issues with employees, benefits administrators, and insurance brokers.
  • Works with the broker and benefit carriers as needed to resolve benefit eligibility issues and file feed issues.
  • Maintains accurate and complete files on benefit providers/carriers regarding plan descriptions, contracts, amendments, and other related documents.
  • Plans and coordinates open enrollment for annual health insurance changes and semi-annual 401k changes. Coordinates insurance enrollments and communicates to employees as to additional required information and deadlines. Performs benefits administration including claims resolution, change reporting, and reconciliation of statements.
  • Ensures approved forms are disseminated with service providers concerning routine administration of programs. Keeps employee records up to date by processing employee status changes in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinates with payroll to maintain HRIS records; develops and compiles reports from the databases as well as troubleshoots with IT and Accounting on hardware and software issues.
  • Provides HR leadership in interpreting and applying various policies and procedures and current applicable local, state, and federal laws including, but not limited to FMLA, WFCA, 401K, COBRA, and EEOC.
  • Collaborates with HR team members to ensure consistent application of policy analysis of organizational trends and HR sharing. Makes recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with COBRA guidelines by preparing letters and other paperwork; receives and records COBRA insurance premium payments.
  • Ensures 401K and EEO-1 audits and reporting are completed annually. Ensures records, reports, and logs are maintained and conform to EEO regulations.
  • Provides orientation and training on all benefits for new employees.
