The Assistant General Manager position reports to the General Manager and will provide administrative supervision for Emerson Stage. This position will oversee a portfolio of marketing and communications, operations, financial processing, and student employee and company manager supervision. In addition, this role will have high contact with guest artists, and will oversee the coordination of their specific travel, housing, and access needs. This is an important public-facing role that will influence the external perception of Emerson Stage and requires superior interpersonal and organizational skills.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
• Conceive, create, and execute all aspects of the marketing and communications plan.
• Partner with on-campus colleagues to update and distribute information across the college’s channels, networks, and websites.
• Disseminate internal and external email communications about Emerson Stage auditions and events.
• Manage the website and social media platforms, including engagement, content, and schedule, delegating tasks to student employees as appropriate.
• Post to the Emerson community and local Boston community calendars about season productions and performances.
• Develop, design, print, and distribute graphics and posters as required.
• Coordinate ad placements with external vendors and ad trades with local partners.
• Serve as copyeditor and copywriter for all Emerson Stage content and materials.
• Produce marketing reports.
• Coordinate with the Office of the Arts Box Office on ticketing and comp policies.
• Ensure that all rights and royalties policies and guest artist agreements are being upheld in marketing materials and on digital platforms.
• Assist with the development of the budget, and oversee assigned budget lines, including those for rights and royalties, office administration, marketing, and guest housing and travel.
• Execute payments for guest artists as outlined in guest artist contracts.
• Recruit, hire, supervise, and coordinate student employees and student company managers.
• Order, receive, and organize office supplies.
• Maintain equipment, including printers and computers, alerting IT support if problems persist beyond basic troubleshooting.
• Coordinate all campus access and travel and housing arrangements for all guest artists, ensuring that all guest artist agreement terms are upheld and executed.
• Serve as point of contact for all guests and campus visitors for answering questions and queries.
• Assist with coordinating special events as required.
• Develop and maintain local and community partnerships with other theatre organizations, coordinate and attend community events, and attend meetings and serve on committees across campus as required.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts Management, Theatre Management, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience required
• 3-5 years of experience in administration in a theatre or arts organization required. Experience in an academic environment preferred

• Knowledge of social media platforms, email software, and scheduling platforms
• Strong MS Office and G Suite skills
• Proficiency in using computer software and the ability to learn new software easily

• Strong written communication skills and the ability to understand contracts
• Ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize tasks

• This position is generally sedentary in nature, movement throughout the area is required from time to time.

This position requires an in-person presence on the Boston Campus during the work week.
