The Assistant Director, Student Accounts position reports to the Associate Director, Student Accounts, and will serve as a point of contact for students and families about account queries. In addition, this position will assist with all day-to-day operations of the billing office, including, but not limited to, customer service, collections, reconciliations, processing, and overseeing technical functions to ensure that the college’s accounts receivable is in good standing and collects revenue for the college. This important role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to provide and motivate others to provide exceptional customer service.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Assist students and parents with student account questions and queries, ensuring excellent customer service.
- Counsel and advise parents, students, and the campus community on financial planning options and student account policies and procedures, complying with all relevant rules and regulations.
- Assist with the collection of accounts receivables.
- Coordinate payment options to clear balances for students.
- Assist in the coordination and production of billing statements.
- Assist with technical functions, including the set-up and ongoing maintenance of the software system.
- Reconcile student account cash.
- Serve as the point person for escalated student health and tuition insurance situations.
- Serve as point person for setting up and maintaining payment plans, including special requests.
- Serve as liaison between the college and its student health and tuition insurance agents.
- Serve as backup for the Associate Director as required.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to other staff as required.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to perform the job effectively.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
- 3-5 years of previous experience in finance, accounting, accounts receivable, or related field required.
- Previous experience using Banner and Touchnet preferred
- Experience working with a diverse student population preferred

- Knowledge of accounts receivable practices and procedures
- Intermediate to Expert proficiency in MS Excel
- Proficiency in using computer software and the ability to learn new software easily
- Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to engage with students and parents in a patient and positive manner
- Ability to handle stressful situations in a courteous and professional manner
- Commitment to and ability to work with diverse populations

This position is primarily a hybrid role with expected days in the office each week.
The hybrid arrangement will be made upon hire. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Boston campus to ensure operational effectiveness. This arrangement must be approved as outlined in the Remote Work Policy.
