Full Job Description

The Department of Psychological Science at Claremont McKenna College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position (at the Assistant or Associate Professor level) in diversity science with a preference for candidates who specialize in African American and/or Latinx communities. The specific field within psychology is open. We are especially interested in someone who conducts community-based or applied research that has a direct impact on underserved communities. This position aligns with the Presidential Initiative on Anti-Racism and the Black Experience in America as well as the departments commitment to anti-racism and valuing of diverse perspectives and contributions. The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in psychology by the time of the appointment, which begins on July 1, 2025.

Candidates must have demonstrated ability to maintain an active, high-quality research program as well as the highest standards of excellence in teaching and involve undergraduates in research. The teaching load is two courses per semester. Candidates should be effective in teaching students in a liberal arts setting, characterized by small class sizes and high levels of student interaction. The successful applicant will teach a core course (i.e., Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, or Research Methods), a lower-level course in their specialty area (e.g., Cultural Psychology, Psychological Disorders, Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, or Social Psychology), and an upper-level seminar on African American or Latinx Psychology and/or another course within their specialty area on African American or Latinx experiences. Given the Colleges and departments commitment to cultivating an inclusive educational environment, we seek candidates who can demonstrate a commitment to teaching, mentoring, and inspiring students representing a broad range of socioeconomic backgrounds, political opinions, genders, races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, and religions. Anticipated annual salary range:

$90,000 - $130,000
