Asset Management Technology is a dynamic service focused organization dedicated to ensuring business focused outcomes for our Investments front office partners in Columbia Threadneedle Investments. We are looking for dynamic Engineering leader who will operate in a fast-paced environment to provide differentiating technology and complex analytical solutions supporting trading, portfolio management, research and ESG functions within Columbia Threadneedle investments department.

This role is a hands-on software engineer that will provide engineering SME and direction to our business partners in Asset Management. We are looking for candidates with a fresh perspective who are passionate about solving complex business, data, and technical challenges. In this role, you'll work with smart, talented people across our business to create innovative, next-generation cloud-based applications, and analytics/models. You'll be involved, hands-on, and work through the entire development cycle. You'll also redefine the way our traders, portfolio managers and analysts support our clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a high-energy individual to make a high impact towards transforming the Front Office Technology and its interactions with Front Office Investments teams, build relationships, learn and grow in a culture that is very collaborative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, modifies, adapts and implements short- and long-term solutions to information technology needs through new and existing applications, systems, databases and applications infrastructure.

  • Has a proven track record of bringing a fresh perspective to build engineering driven, value focused approach to problem solving.

  • Passionate about technology while using their problem-solving capabilities to deliver solutions utilizing a top end engineering approach.

  • Exceptional technology skills; recognized by industry peers as an expert in your domain.

  • Leads with commercial mindset to solve complex problems; researches and brings in new and machine learning/GenAI concepts; takes a new perspective while using existing solutions.

  • Participates in discovery sessions to identify opportunities to leverage analytics to automate and enhance business processes.

  • Accountable for all parts of the software development lifecycle for their projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.

  • 5-7+ years of experience as full stack developer/solutions architect using Java, Python, Angular, React, etc.

  • 4-6 years of experience in developing applications targeting a major cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP).

  • Exposure to automated testing and Test-Driven Development.

  • Proven knowledge of development tools such as Visual Studio, Git, SQL Server Management Studio, CICD/automation tools such as Jenkins, Ansible etc.

  • Demonstrable experience in SQL development which includes but not limited to writing views, stored procedures, functions.

  • Proven ability to write quality code by following best practices and guidelines.

  • Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking and organizational skills.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrable experience of working on a team that is geographically dispersed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Delivering technology solutions working in financial services organizations.

  • Delivering cloud native (AWS) innovative solutions with a commercial mindset.

  • Experienced with AWS stack and CI/CD.

  • Championing organizational change, e.g., leading initiatives, products, services, or interactions.

  • Being a good advocate for technology with the business bridging the gap.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to present complex information in an understandable way to all levels of the organization.

  • You can quickly build rapport, credibility, trust, and respect throughout the organization at all levels.
