The ABWK Construction Assistant provides direct support to Site Supervisors, Project Managers, and construction volunteers in performing critical repairs and exterior painting for owner-occupied homes.

Job Summary
The ABWK Construction Assistant provides direct support to Site Supervisors, Project Managers, and construction volunteers in performing critical repairs and exterior painting for owner-occupied homes.
Responsibilities
- Serve as member of the construction crew on work sites.
- Assist with preparation of the work site for construction/painting activities.
- Review daily work plans with the Site Supervisor to determine needed materials and tools.
- Retrieve needed materials from the warehouse or purchase from local retailers and transport to the work site. Complete appropriate purchase paperwork or enter information in the Warehouse Inventory database.
- As needed and assigned, lead crews of volunteers, sub- contractors and homeowners on site.
- Communicate and answer questions about work assignments and schedules.
- Teach correct material and tool utilization, provide feedback and coaching, and promote safety policy compliance through personal leadership.
- Coordinate minor vehicle maintenance of TCHFH vehicles such as scheduling oil changes, regularly clean TCHFH vehicles and report any maintenance issues.
- Complete administrative responsibilities for projects including processing of invoices.

Preferred Qualifications
Education, credentials, and experience:
- Associate or bachelor's degree.
- Previous experience in construction field or relevant education in technical trades.
Physical requirements and work environment
- Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions on an occasional basis.
- Regularly walk and climb on uneven surfaces, ladders, and stairs.
- The work is performed on construction work sites with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, dampness, construction debris, paint, extreme temperatures, warehouse and construction noises, fumes and odors from construction materials.
Hours of work and required travel
- This is a seasonal position with a Tuesday-Friday schedule. Typical hours are 7:00-5:00 but may vary.
- Regular travel within the 7-county metro area for construction/renovation site work.
Tools and equipment used
- Basic Proficiency in MS Office, email and use of the Internet.
- Operate hand/or power tools and instruct others in their use.
